Have you ever wondered why everyone says "hello" when they pick up a phone call?

The chinese says it.

The muslims says it.

The indians says it.

The caucasians says it.

Basically, everyone says it...some in their own language, while some just say "hello" as it is.

but do you know how come everyone is saying hello when they pick up or someone picks up the phone call?

It is not exactly known how the word "hello" came about but this is one logical explanation.

In the 1870s, the telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell.

Mr Bell with his invention

The first users who were connected by telephones had never seen or use a telephone before. They were unsure if the other party connected to them was actually there or not as they could not see each other.

So one of them yelled out into the phone "ya low"

The other one replied "ya low" to him.

And so "ya low" became a norm for everyone to say when using the phone.

When the phone became widely used by people, the greeting "ya low" slowly evolved into the current greeting "hello".

this is how everyone say "hello" when they pick up the fone call came about.

and why it is still used after so long, i have no idea.

it seems to have been passed down generations to generations for the easy pronounciation, easy to remember word.

can you still recall your first time using the phone?

Something to say?
